Notice - Winter Maintenance and Operations
The Township of Essa has received a significant amount of snow this winter. Staff have been working diligently at plowing, sanding and salting in order to keep roads and sidewalks open and safe for the public. As weather allows, staff is working on snow removal to reduce snowbanks to keep the streets clear and passable for residents and emergency vehicles.
Notice - Flood Forecasting
Due to the significant amount of snow this winter season. There is a high potential for flooding based on the snow accumulation and potential heavy rain, snow melt, high wind and other conditions that could lead to high runoff, cause ice jams and flooding or erosion in spring. The Township will be placing sand & sandbags at the end of Park Rd, at the intersection of Simcoe St & Water St & the Angus Firehall early spring.

A Non-Statutory Public Meeting has been scheduled to take place in the Council Chambers at the Administration Centre located at 5786 County Road 21, Utopia, at approximately 6:00 pm on February 5, 2025, concerning a proposed Official Plan Amendment (OPA 47), Zoning By-law Amendment (Z15-23), and Site Plan Control Application (SP3-23), for the property known municipally as 8949 Smith Road.
