As you freshen up your home this spring, take a few minutes to make sure its fire safe, too! Simple seasonal maintenance can go a long way in protecting your family.
✔Test all smoke and carbon monoxide alarms: Press the test button to ensure they’re working and replace batteries if required. Alarms should be dusted lightly with a cloth or vacuumed with a soft brush attachment to keep sensors clear.
✔ Clear clutter away from heat and electrical sources: Keep items at least one metre (3 feet) away from space heaters, furnaces, water heaters, electrical panels, and outlets. Avoid overloading plugs or using damaged cords.
✔ Keep exits and pathways clear: Make sure doors, hallways, and stairwells are free of boxes, storage, or debris so everyone can get out quickly in an emergency.
A few minutes of spring cleaning now can help prevent a fire later. Stay safe and enjoy the warmer weather!
🐶 Don’t forget your 2026 dog tag!
Dog licensing helps ensure lost pets can be quickly reunited with their owners and helps avoid unnecessary pound fees.
Dog tags are available online, in person, or by mail.

Go Paperless with E-Billing!
Receive your property tax and water bills by email instead of mail. To sign up, complete the Online Paperless Billing Form.
Please note: Once enrolled, you will no longer receive paper bills. All account holders are responsible for payment by the due date to avoid penalties.
Pay through Pre-Authorized Payments!
You can pay your property tax and water bills by enrolling in a Pre-Authorized Payment Plan. By completing the application form, you authorize the Township of Essa to withdraw the amount owing directly from your bank account and apply it to your account.

Winter Parking Updates
Please be advised that Winter Parking Restrictions are in effect, November 1st to May 1st each year. During this period, vehicles are not permitted to be parked on the roads, over a sidewalk or on any municipal boulevard, even if there is no snow. Violators may be ticketed or towed.

⛳ Swing for Health is Back!
Join us on June 2, 2026, for the Swing for Health Golf Tournament.
Register as a golfer:
- Foursomes: $600
- Single players: $160
Registration includes an 18-hole round with cart, plus lunch & snacks, plated dinner, silent auction, and on-course competitions & prizes. Space is limited and available on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Flood Forecasting and Outlook
Due to the significant amount of snow this winter season. There is a high potential for flooding based on the snow accumulation and heavy rain, snow melt, high wind and other conditions that could lead to high runoff, cause ice jams and flooding or erosion in spring.
The Township will be placing sand & sandbags at the end of Park Rd, Water St & the Angus Arena early spring.
The Public Works Department will be monitoring the weather & make the materials available as the snow begins to melt early spring.
