Drop-in Programs

Stay active, connect with your community, and have fun with the Township of Essa's drop-in recreation programs! Offered at the Angus Recreation Centre and Thornton Community Centre, these programs include a variety of activities with no registration required. Programs are available for all ages, with equipment provided where noted on the schedule.

Drop-in Prices (Cash Only):

Ages 0-4: $2 | Ages 5-17: $3 | Ages 18-64: $5 | Ages 65+: $4

Cash payment can be made in the lobby with one of our friendly staff members. See the schedule below for more information.

Skating Drop-in Programs

Gear up and hit the ice with our Skating and Shinny Programs! Whether you're a seasoned skater or just starting out, our program offers a blend of recreational skating and friendly pickup hockey games (shinny) for participants of all ages and skill levels.

Drop-in Prices (Cash Only):

Shinny (All Ages): $5 | Goalies are free

Skating: Ages 5+: $5 | Ages 5 and under are free

Outdoor Rinks

In addition to our indoor skating programs, enjoy our outdoor rinks this winter season! Outdoor rinks are located at the following locations:

• Thornton: 246 Barrie St, Thornton (Open for summer use)
• Baxter: 119 Murphy Road, Baxter (Open for summer use)
• Glen Eton/Wildflower: 42 McCarthy Cres, Angus (Open for summer use)
