Operation Brain Freeze
Since 2021, Operation Brain Freeze has promoted safe cycling in Essa by rewarding youth “caught” wearing properly fitted helmets. Participants receive a certificate, a frozen treat voucher, and a bike safety booklet.
Expanded in 2022, the program also includes a monthly draw for bike safety gear.
Back for 2025, Officers will be out again this summer—so ride safe and wear your helmet!
Bicycle Safety – It Starts With YOU!
Wearing a properly fitted helmet is the law in Ontario for riders under 18 — and it’s the first step to staying safe.
Here are a few key tips for a safe ride:
- Always wear a helmet
- Wear bright clothing
- Use front and rear reflectors
- Ride a bike that fits
- Follow the rules of the road
- Ride in a straight line with traffic
- Be mindful of pedestrians on sidewalks
- Walk your bike across street
- Use hand signals when turning
Stay safe and enjoy the ride!
