Council approves 2025 Township of Essa Budget

Notice of a Public Meeting Pursuant to the Planning Act Concerning A Temporary Use By-law (Z3-24) (253 Barrie Street, Thornton, Con 11 N Pt Lot 15)

The Township of Essa Council will hold a public meeting on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, at 6:00 p.m. at the Essa Administration Centre (5786 County Road No. 21, near Baxter) to consider a Temporary Use By-law Amendment for 253 Barrie Street. The proposal requests temporary permission to use a single-family dwelling as a real estate office in a Residential (R1) zone, where commercial use is not typically permitted. Residents are encouraged to attend and provide feedback. Written submissions are also welcome. NOTICE OF A PUBLIC HEARING FOR A MINOR VARIANCE APPLICATION NO. A13-24

November 04, 2024

A Public Hearing for Minor Variance Application No. A13-24 is scheduled for November 29, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. The application concerns 100 Vernon Street, zoned as ‘Residential, Low Density, Detached (R1).’ The applicant seeks an exception to Section 4.38.2a) of Essa Township’s Zoning By-law, which requires entrances to Additional Residential Units (ARUs) to be in the side or rear yard. The current ARU entrance is in the front yard. Written submissions can be sent to the Secretary-Treasurer before the hearing, and those wishing to be notified of the decision should make a written request.

NOTICE OF A PUBLIC HEARING FOR A MINOR VARIANCE APPLICATION NO. A14-24

The Township of Essa has scheduled a Public Hearing for Minor Variance Application No. A14-24 on November 29, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. This application concerns the property at 11 Vernon Street, zoned as ‘Residential, Low Density, Detached with Special Provisions (R1-19).’ The applicant requests relief from Zoning By-law 2003-50 requirements, proposing to reduce the minimum rear yard setback from 7.0m to 6.3m to accommodate a basement entrance for an Additional Residential Unit (ARU). Additionally, a driveway extension and walkway are proposed, increasing lot coverage to approximately 39%, above the allowable 35%. Written comments may be submitted to the Secretary-Treasurer prior to the hearing, and individuals wishing to receive the Committee’s decision should submit a written request.

NOTICE OF PUBLIC MEETING CONCERNING PROPOSED ZONING BY-LAW AMENDMENT (No. Z2-24)

The Township of Essa will hold a Public Meeting on November 20, 2024, at 6:00 p.m. at the Essa Administration Centre to review proposed amendments to the Zoning By-law (2003-50). The amendments impact all township lands and include updates to definitions, residential deck regulations, permitted uses in commercial and industrial zones (allowing self-storage and shipping containers), and adjustments to parking standards and by-law enforcement sections. Public comments are encouraged, and written requests to the Township Clerk are required for notification on amendment adoption.
